Sheet Pan Salmon

Fresh salmon filets drizzled in a paleo-friendly, slightly sticky, soy-flavored glaze is baked in less than 15 minutes on a sheet pan salmon! The ideal weeknight meal!

I’m SO excited to be bringing you my very first salmon recipe!!!! Only took me 32 years to get on the salmon train but ladies and gents, I’m here.

Tyler has been saying “hallelujah” for weeks absolutely over the moon that I’ve finally given in, LOL. I can’t blame my tastebuds for having an aversion to salmon (literally, forever), and I reaallllyyy cannot tell you what has changed but nevertheless, I’m on board. And SO on board with this easy, sheet pan recipe!

Background of how this recipe (Sheet Pan Salmon) came to be:

As a complete newbie to cooking salmon, I reached out to my SIL (an amazing chef herself) and our go-to celebrity inspiration, Ina Garten, for a base recipe. I tried out Ina’s Asian Grilled Salmon recipe and loved but wanted to tweak slightly — adding honey for stickiness to really create a nice glaze, adjusting the measurements to increase the tanginess (hello mustard!) and figuring out how to translate to a sheet pan, oven-baked recipe.

The result? An addicting, soy-flavored, slightly sweet salmon that bakes in 15 minutes! I loved how this recipe turned out so much that I made it twice in one week haha! I’ve really turned a new leaf. Love it!

Why I Love This Recipe:

Well, and it’s done!

Nutritious and Delicious: It’s not just about convenience; this recipe packs a nutritional punch too. Salmon is well-known for its rich flavor and for being a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, plus it’s a great source of protein. Paired with roasted baby potatoes and cherry tomatoes, it’s a full meal that meets nutrition guidelines without sacrificing taste.

Versatility: I love how adaptable this recipe is. Whether I’m using sockeye, coho, or another type of salmon from my local grocery store, it always turns out tender and flavorful. Plus, the glaze adds a touch of sweetness that enhances the natural flavors of the fish and vegetables.

Family Favorite: It’s become a family favorite mainly because everyone can customize their meal. My kids enjoy the simplicity of the salmon and potatoes, while I appreciate the ease of preparation and the minimal ingredients.

Perfect Weeknight Meal: When I need to get dinner on the table in a hurry, this recipe is my go-to. With just a few minutes of prep in a large bowl to mix the glaze and coat the salmon, I can pop it into the preheated oven and have a delicious main course ready in no time.

Why You’ll Love It Too: Whether you’re new to cooking or a seasoned pro looking for easy salmon recipes, this Sheet Pan Salmon Dinner is sure to become a mainstay in your meal rotation. It’s the best thing for busy nights when you want a nutritious, flavorful meal with minimal effort and maximum reward.

Here’s how you’ll make this Asian Glazed Sheet Pan Salmon:

Ingredients:

  • 2 4 oz. fresh salmon filets
  • ¼ cup liquid aminos or coconut aminos
  • 3 tbsp. Dijon mustard
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp. avocado oil
  • 2 tbsp. ginger paste
  • 1 tbsp. honey or agave nectar
  • Optional for serving: chopped green onions + sliced avocado

Instructions:

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a sheet pan with foil and lightly spray it with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare the Salmon: Place the salmon filets skin-side down on the prepared sheet pan.
  3. Make the Glaze: In a bowl, whisk together the liquid aminos, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, avocado oil, ginger paste, and honey (or agave nectar) until well combined.
  4. Glaze the Salmon: Pour half of the prepared glaze over the salmon filets, ensuring they are evenly coated. Try to avoid getting too much liquid on the foil to prevent sticking.
  5. Bake: Bake the salmon in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, depending on your preferred level of doneness. I find that 15 minutes gives me perfectly cooked salmon every time!
  6. Serve: Once baked, pour the remaining glaze over the salmon filets. Garnish with chopped green onions and sliced avocado if desired.

Tips for Cooking Salmon Perfectly:

  • Choose Quality Salmon: Opt for fresh salmon filets, such as sockeye or coho, for the best flavor and texture.
  • Even Cooking: Place thicker parts of the salmon towards the center of the sheet pan for even cooking.
  • Temperature Check: Ensure the salmon reaches an internal temperature of 145°F at the thickest part for safe consumption.
