Savvy Tips!

Type of apples:

The sweetness of the apples really makes a difference in the flavor of these tarts. I personally love using Honeycrisp apples because they strike the perfect balance of sweet and tart. But if you prefer something a bit milder, Golden Delicious apples are a great choice too. Granny Smith apples are also fantastic because they hold up so well when baked. Honestly, you can use any good baking apple for this recipe—whatever you have on hand will work beautifully

Storage:

If you have any leftovers, store them in an airtight container or freezer bags for the next day. These tarts are best enjoyed fresh for the best flavor, but they will last for a day or two if you need to store them.

Flavor variations:

Try sprinkling a little cinnamon or some lemon zest over the apples before layering them onto the pastry. It’s a simple touch, but it really brings out the flavor and adds something extra to the tarts! And for the perfect finishing touch, top them with a dollop of whipped cream instead of ice cream—it adds a light, creamy contrast to the sweetness of the apples.

Make ahead:

If you’re hosting a dinner party or have a busy day ahead, you can make the tarts in advance—just wrap them up in plastic wrap and pop them in the fridge until you’re ready to bake. It’s a total time-saver!

FAQs

I’ve seen other similar recipes made with apricot preserves or apricot jam! It adds such a lovely touch of sweetness and shine to the tarts. You can also top them with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent treat!

The tarts are ready when the pastry is golden brown and crispy, usually after about 15 minutes in the oven. If you want to be sure, you can gently lift one to check the bottom—it should be golden and crisp.

If you’re not a fan of honey, you can easily swap it out for maple syrup or brown sugar for a slightly different flavor. For the brown sugar, simply mix the apple slices in a bowl with a bit of fresh lemon juice, then toss them with the brown sugar.

This easy apple tart recipe is the perfect easy apple dessert, combining the best of flaky pastry with the sweetness of fresh apples. It’s a delicious recipe that’s simple to make and ideal for satisfying your apple cravings without all the fuss of a traditional apple pie!
