Supreme Cauliflower Pizza Recipe

When your 🧠 says 🥗 but your ♥️ says 🍕, you pile veggies (and turkey sausage) on a cauliflower crust and satisfy all organs 🤣

Resetting my vacation mindset has been slightly challenging haha… I’m used to piña coladas at noon and a fitness plan of “long walks on the beach” so Monday was definitely a slap in the face 😂😳 sometimes I come back craving all the greens and sometimes it’s harder to get out of the “oh why not!” state of mind haha.⁣

Well we’ve cooked pasta and pizza so you know where my head is still at lol 😆 Tonight, though, I decided to lean into a slightly lighter option, my Supreme Cauliflower Crust Pizza Recipe. It’s comfort food that doesn’t leave me feeling like I need another vacation nap.

Why Cauliflower Crust?

Here’s the thing. I love regular pizza as much as anyone, but sometimes I’m looking for a lower carb, healthier swap for one of my favorite foods. That’s when cauliflower crust comes to the rescue. I usually grab mine from Trader Joe’s because they’ve totally nailed the frozen version, and it has become one of my go-tos for an easy pizza night.

It is such a nice swap when I’m craving comfort food but still want to sneak in some extra veggies. And honestly, if you bake it right, it gets golden and crispy, and it actually holds up under all the sauce and toppings.

Ingredients for my Supreme Cauliflower Crust Pizza:

  • 1 frozen cauliflower crust I love the Trader Joes crust
  • ½-⅓ cup pizza sauce try Delallo’s!
  • 1 green bell pepper thinly sliced
  • ½ onion thinly sliced
  • ½ lb. pre-seasoned Italian ground turkey sausage cooked
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

How you’ll make my Supreme Cauliflower Crust Pizza:

  • For the perfect crust, precook your cauliflower crust right on your oven rack for 10 mins per side at 450 degrees, or according to your package directions.
  • Add toppings + place onto a cooking sheet. Bake for another 5-10 minutes! ⁣Serve warm.

Storage + reheating tips

  • Let the pizza cool completely before storing. This helps prevent steam from softening the crust.
  • Store slices in an airtight container in the fridge for 2–4 days.
  • If stacking slices, place parchment paper or a paper towel between them to absorb extra moisture.
  • To reheat, avoid the microwave (it makes the crust soft). Instead:
    • Oven: Place slices on a baking sheet and bake at 350–375°F for 8–12 minutes, until cheese is melty and crust is crisp.
    • Skillet: Warm a slice over medium heat for a few minutes to crisp the bottom and heat through.

FAQs

Yes! This step is key. Bake the crust directly on the oven rack for about 10 minutes per side (or follow your package directions). Pre-baking helps the crust firm up so it can actually hold your toppings. Some people like to finish the final bake on a pizza stone or pizza pan for extra crispness. Just keep an eye on it, since every brand is a little different in thickness and moisture.

Definitely. Trader Joe’s is my go-to, but Caulipower, Green Giant, and a few other store brands also work well. Just be sure to follow their instructions closely, since each cauliflower crust recipe varies a bit in texture, thickness, and bake time. Some brands are thinner and more delicate, so you may need to adjust slightly.

You can absolutely swap in chicken sausage, ground beef, or even a plant-based sausage for a vegetarian option. Just make sure whatever protein you use is fully cooked before adding it, since the final oven bake is short (only 5–10 minutes). If you’re using something fatty like ground beef, I recommend draining it first so the crust doesn’t get weighed down with extra moisture.

Stick with about ½–⅓ cup. Too much tomato sauce can soften the crust and make it floppy. A thin, even layer gives plenty of flavor without overwhelming the main ingredient—the crust itself. If you’re trying a new crust brand, start light with the sauce and adjust next time if you want more.

The most common culprits are skipping the pre-bake, overloading with sauce, or piling on watery veggies. Another possibility is that the crust was spread too thin or baked unevenly, which makes it fragile. For a sturdier result next time, prebake fully, go lighter on toppings, and avoid watery vegetables unless they’re pre-cooked. You can also use parchment paper or a pizza pan for stability, though baking directly on the oven rack usually gives the best crisp.

Of course! Just avoid raw, watery veggies like zucchini slices or fresh tomatoes unless you cook them first or pat them dry with paper towels. Mushrooms, spinach, olives, and roasted veggies are all great choices. Thin-slicing and pre-cooking helps keep excess water from soaking into the crust.

Yes. You can pre-bake the crust earlier in the day, let it cool completely, and store it loosely covered at room temp for a few hours. When you’re ready, just add toppings and bake another 5–10 minutes. This makes dinner feel a lot less labor-intensive, especially if it’s your first time trying a cauliflower crust.

This Supreme Cauliflower Crust Pizza has become one of my favorite weeknight go-tos when I’m craving comfort food but still want something a little lighter. It’s a great recipe because it’s quick to make, easy to customize with whatever toppings you love, and satisfying enough for the whole family.

If you’ve ever had a serious pizza craving but wanted a great alternative to heavy dough, this one’s for you. Cauliflower crusts really do surprise me with how well they hold up, and this version doesn’t make me miss regular pizza crust at all. I use a frozen crust from Trader Joe’s, which makes the whole process practically foolproof—perfect for when you want pizza night without the extra effort.
